Personal Profile

I am Chrissa Kofina. Welcome to my portfolio website!

I am a graduate of the Department of Visual and Applied Arts of the School of Fine Arts of AUTH, Greece, specializing in painting, and a graduate of the Greek Language and Literature Department of AUTH. I hold a master's degree in European Culture.

I am an active member of the community and a founding member of the FireArt art collective. I have shown my work in exhibitions in Greece and abroad (Istanbul, Gabrovo, Bitola, Budapest, Puerto Rico, European Parliament in Brussels).

My work attempts to approach the general and universal through personal experiences, raise questions about man's place in the world, his relationship with history, and his role in social and historical development, and motivate the viewer to take action against the causes of social problems.

I am also involved in the theoretical study of art as a producer of the radio show "Technikrates".

The presentation unfolds along two main axes: on one hand, the image of the woman through time, as a bearer of heritage, a symbol of resilience and tenderness. On the other hand, the harsh reality of war and conflict within which we are all called to act.

In this artistic universe, the past is not merely a reference, but a tool: “The past holds the key to the future.” History is alive, memory is persistent, and art can become the vehicle that carries them forward. The exhibition itself is an invitation to rethink courage—not as a heroic exception, but as a daily act.

This project concerns the position of women in Greek society and the fight against female inequality. I place the woman in the historical and social contexts and try to highlight the causes. The woman who tirelessly supports her family, who meets the historical events and takes part in them, who shapes her future and fights for a better world, is made of iron.

The figures in these paintings are derived mainly from archival photographic material, standing proudly in front of the viewer, reminiscent of archaic kouros and kore. In the beginning, those statues stood still; then they took small steps and acquired objects symbolizing their status, until one day, in the flow of history, they claimed the surrounding space and conquered the free movement. Implementing a parallelism the painted figures walk through history, and evolve steadily, until they have conquered the world of justice they dreamed of.
